And, that being said, I'm in the market for a new monitor.
Now that I have a job -- and huzzah for gainful employment -- I'm looking to replace the Gateway FPD2485W I used to have. I'm hoping to get another 24" monitor I can calibrate for the photography, and then pop a widescreen 20" in portrait mode off to the left for tools, email, and the rest of my desktop detritus.
I need to find my Wacom Graphire wireless tablet, but I'm also considering saving up for an Intuos5 touch Medium. Okay, I'm not just considering it: I'm going to do it. Sadly, even with the job, I can't quite justify the Cintiq 24HD touch yet, but after I win the lottery or make a major book or portfolio sale, I'll certainly look into it.
May all your light be perfect, and all your bokeh radiant.

My, but it's been a while
It seems it's been a donkey's age since I had to sell all of my equipment to make rent, but thanks to CraigsList, Adorama, and some local pawn and discount stores, I've managed to piece together a number of items over the last year. Admittedly, I don't have the latest, hottest, or newest equipment, and some of what I have isn't in the prettiest of conditions, but what I have is the opportunity to get back into shooting, and that's worth more than words can say.
This is not to say that I won't be looking at Amazon, B&H Photo, or eBay as finances permit, but -- for now -- I'm more than happy with what I have.
To be fair, I've been taking
The turning of the seasons
As winter -- such as it is in the Portland Metro area -- begins to consider moving to spring, it's time to start thinking about photography again. I'm through with trying to make my camera phone and my miniature camcorder work as my primary lenses on the world, and I've started budgeting to get back into the flow.
While it's going to take some time to rebuild an equipment list similar to that I used to have, I've my eye set on the Canon T4i as my first purchase. I used to have an XTi and a 5D, and once I get the new T4i body and the necessary accoutrements, I want to start saving for a 5D Mark III. I know I'll need to pick up a couple of pri
Still here, still not producing much
Between moves, job losses, and a ruptured disc in my lower back, I've had to sell all of my camera equipment. I have a Samsung Nexus S smart phone (with its own 5MP camera ... woo-hoo), but I'm afraid that's it for the nonce.
I do have more work I've shot previously that I need to edit and get onto the site, and I still need to finish my personal site for my photography and illustration, but I just wanted to let everyone (who still follows me, that is) know that I am alive, and I am -- someday -- going to make something of myself.
Really.
I mean it.
To quote GLaDOS, I'm still alive
Although I'm not shooting that much right now -- this is due to a lack of equipment, a situation that I shall rectify as soon as finances permit -- I am finally getting my portfolio(s) updated. I should have a web site up at http://jmnorthwood.com by the weekend, and I've updated my Flickr stream.
I'm looking over what I have to submit to JPG Magazine, and I'm picking up the pace on my writing.
I'll try to keep this updated, but it's blindingly obvious just how well I've managed that so far.

The intous vs a bamboo or graphire is only noticable for the lil things, I started with a cintiq 15x, costing ... 230 total. 15" monitor and 512 pressure levels I believe ([link]) . Im using a 21ux 2nd gen, and I hear the yinova 19" is under 600 and at 2048 levels, some people sware by it.[link]
