It seems it's been a donkey's age since I had to sell all of my equipment to make rent, but thanks to CraigsList, Adorama, and some local pawn and discount stores, I've managed to piece together a number of items over the last year. Admittedly, I don't have the latest, hottest, or newest equipment, and some of what I have isn't in the prettiest of conditions, but what I have is the opportunity to get back into shooting, and that's worth more than words can say.
This is not to say that I won't be looking at Amazon, B&H Photo, or eBay as finances permit, but -- for now -- I'm more than happy with what I have.
To be fair, I've been taking a number of photos with my smartphone; however, considering I didn't have the wherewithal to purchase a Lumia 1020 or 1520, I've made do with a few 3-8 MP cameras, first on Android phones, then transitioning to the Windows mobile platform a couple of years ago. Still no 1020 / 1520 / 950, unfortunately: I started with a 521 and moved to a 640. Oh, don't get me wrong: I took some decent shots, and I may upload a few of them, but compressed JPGs can't compare with the beauty of uncompressed RAW images or their concomitant PNG web images.
I'm finishing setting up the computer, installing the OS and editing software, and calibrating my monitor over the next couple of days, then heading out to brush off the dust and get back in the swing of dSLR shooting. This means that soon -- very soon -- more photos shall appear.
We shall use our equipment and takes them, precious. Takes them we will ...
